Fazenda Palmital is located in Cabo Verde, in the mountains of the Serra do Pau D'Alho. It was acquired in the 1920's by Carlos Augusto's grandfather. Carlos owns the farm after he inherited from his father and has been carrying on the family legacy with his wife, Katinha, and his son, Augusto, sharing the activities.
The Rodrigues de Melo family works together and counts on a loyal and focused team, formed mostly by professionals who have a generational relationship with the farm. This length of service stems from Carlos' philosophy to do everything with a lot of love and to do it well. During the harvest season, the busiest of the year, they work with 120 people. During the off-season, there are 50.
Everyone works on the farm focusing on quality andconsistency, so that year after year, they aresuccessful in their results.
Besides Palmital, Carlos Augusto has three othercoffee areas - two in the same region of Palmitaland one in Carmo do Rio Claro. Everything that theyharvest is prepared at Fazenda Palmital - theheadquarters and also the family's home. One ofthese drives innovation for the estates withirrigation experimentation and understanding.
The entire farm is handpicked due to the altitudeand character of the land, and they have severalanimals including monkeys, snakes, wild cats,spiders, birds, anteaters, toucans, jaguar, horses andchickens present in the fields.
