Coffee Facts
Brazil - Sao Paulo was established in 2008 by the Montanari family and is managed by fourth generation brothers, Roger and Marcello. Under the watchful eye of their highly experienced coffee farming father, the brothers are pushing the boundaries of modern coffee farming in Brazil.
This lot of pulped natural Catuai has been picked and pulped to remove all mucilage before being immediately dried on African style raised beds. This results in a cleaner cup than natural processed coffee, with brighter notes, a lighter body and greater complexity.
Kenya - Most Kenyan coffee comes from large estate farms or cooperatives, but this unique lot is produced by a small group of 29 selected farmers. After being delivered to the mill the coffee parchment is removed through de-hulling before the beans are separated by quality and size with AA denoting the largest and highest quality beans. This year we have bought both the AA and Peaberry lots in their entirety and are proud to be able to bring you these unique, delicious coffees. The AA lot brings notes of blackcurrant, orange and a bright grapefruit-like acidity.
Nicaragua - This estate is owned by Victor Robelo. He owns a few different estates in Matagalpa and exports the coffee under the name” Finca Las Nubes”. He has a lot of experience in producing micro-lots utilising a variety of processing methods. Every lot is processed at his own mill and as well as his full time employees he also employs seasonal pickers to whom he offers housing and food. The competitive wages he offers ensures that people come back year after year and results in greater attention to detail during the harvest. This lot is super clean and sweet with juicy citrus and soft caramel notes.
