A vertically integrated social impact company, Bette Buna operates two farms and mills in Sidama and Guji respectively, and works with local farmers as well as their own production. The farms in Guji tend to be a little bigger, and it's from one of the local community that this lot hails. Hassan Ware has 75ha of coffee production in the Megadu area and has been working closely with Bette Buna for the last 3 years, with particular focus on the local community. Hassan owns his own wet mill, and mainly farms JARC cultivars (improved selections developed by the Jimma Agricultural Centre, as opposed to older landrace types). We selected this coffee for being the epitome of a classic washed Guji profile - we find sweet sticky stonefruits, florals and citrus alongside a gentle herbality that reminds us of chamomile.
