Coffee Facts

Located in the the east of Lake Kivu about 1 hour drive to the north of Kibuye, the Bwishaza washing station is a co-operative with 590 members and works with an additional 200-300 farmers in the region.

Farmers will hand harvest coffee cherries and deliver them to the washing station on the same day. They are paid on delivery and this year the co-operative were able to pay 270f per kg, about 12% above the government set price.
