Coffee Facts
This Red Bourbon is one of two new coffee drops from the state of Aragua. Evelin Escalona, named as always after the farm's owner of producer, is a bean that makes the fertile soils of Venezuela proud. The Flash Honey method enhances its natural sweetness, resulting in a cup brimming with vibrant fruit flavours, reminiscent of sun-ripened berries and tropical delights. A silky layer of caramel rounds out the profile... If that's your kind of thing, of course. Ultimately, a silky, flavoursome speciality brew. On a side note, also fantastic as a half-caf.

Origin: Venezuela, Hacienda San José - Mariño, Aragua State.

Hacienda San José is nestled in the rich, green highlands, north-east of Maracay and south of the Southern Caribbean Sea. Both this farm, and that of our other Aragua coffees are part of the larger 'mother' project of Casa de Paya, a larger finca overseen by Léopoldo Yanez, who happens to be Evelin's husband. In years past Casa Paya underwent a period of 'invasion' to use their own words - yet it was Léopoldo, Evelin and their family who decided to integrate and accommodate the newcomers into a new business model that would go on to not just benefit the community, but also provide a solid blueprint for other growing regions across Venezuela who have experienced similar fates. Since the shift, the growing cooperative have undergone and continue to pursue training and development in regards to harvesting and processing methods to meet specialty standards.
