Ask the Roaster
Founded in 2007, the Coffee Collective is to this day 100% owned and run by Peter N. Dupont, Casper Engel Rasmussen og Klaus Thomsen. With several competition awards in the bag, including gold in both the World Barista Championship and World Cup Tasting championships, we continue to explore exciting coffee experiences.
We seek out extremely clean, sweet and aromatic coffees, and roast them lightly in order to highlight their natural taste. Each coffee is roasted with its own roast profile to enhance that particular coffee’s unique qualities. At the centre of our roastery is our 35 kg Loring Smartroast. A highly efficient roaster with minimal gas-usage and emissions that allow us full control of our roast profiles.
In our opinion, sustainability in coffee starts with financial sustainability for the farmers. To make a difference, we believe that we have to start with ourselves by making coffee experiences that contributes to this development.
We source coffee directly from the farmer for two main reasons. To guarantee we get the best green beans, and to make sure the farmer is rewarded for the high quality coffee. It is actually quite simple. For the farmer to continue to produce specialty coffee, he or she should be paid extra for the hard work.
We wish to give you the facts behind the coffee you buy. On each bag you can see who produced it and the Quality Bonus for the particular coffee. The Quality Bonus is what we have paid above the market price to the farmer, as the quality is higher than regular coffee. See the exact price for each coffee all the way to the farmer in our Sustainability Report. That is transparency.
Dog and Hat
We first came across Coffee Collective in Prufrock down in London and immediately knew it would be perfect for the International Subscription. We got in touch with the team over in Frederiksberg, Denmark and were thrilled when they agreed to partner with us.
