Machina was created by two people looking for their next creative challenge. One, an ex DJ & A&R man (and coffee nerd) from the music industry, the other, a long time coffee industry professional with a background in training (and an apparent obsession for show singing).
They met through a mutual friend, again through music and discovered that they both had a huge passion for equipment and sharing knowledge. From here Machina took on it's own momentum, which is an extraordinary story of people, coffee and lots of equipment (that's a lot of equipment...), on a path to becoming a speciality coffee roastery.
We source, sample, roast and distribute the very best coffee we can find from around the globe, based on the seasonal coffee calendar. This means we buy our coffee from the origins in season, when the crops are at their peak in terms of quality.
Our approach to sourcing coffee is not to stick to conventional wisdom about origin and taste. We always aim to look a little deeper to uncover farms, growers and origins who might not yet have the prestige but are deserving of the limelight or similarly are pioneering new and interesting coffee that we know will be incredibly popular with our audience.
