About

ROOST is David & Ruth. Originally both from Lincolnshire, we met in 2004, sharing a love of coffee. We married in Rome 2007 and both had previous careers before moving to North Yorkshire to work together. Now with 10 years’ experience in the speciality coffee industry, from scratch we have built up and run a speciality coffee shop and since 2015 created ROOST Coffee & Roastery.

Our family business is a huge part of our life. Our children have grown up in our coffee businesses. Betsy, 5 grew up in the roastery. Erin, 12 a budding barista. We love that the Rocket Espresso machine manual states ‘not to be used by anyone under the age of 12 years’. Coffee is on our minds all of the time and we love what we do.

Out of work we love to walk Skye our Goldendoodle on the North Yorkshire coast or moors, travel as best we can and spend time with our children. Ruth loves running, especially the local Park Runs and David still plays football and supports Lincoln City FC.

ROOST has now grown to have four more staff. Gemma the Espresso Bar manager and three baristas.

David and Ruth at Roost are our closest speciality roastery and we taste their coffee in our local cafes all the time... So it was only a matter of time before they made it into the subs to give everyone a taste of our beautiful part of North Yorkshire.
