Ask the Roaster - Simon from Climpson and Sons
How was the Roastery founded, what was the inspiration?
Climpson & Sons was founded in 2002 by Ian Burgess. After a few years spent in Australia Ian returned to the UK and, with a lack of quality coffee available, set to
building his own version of the Antipodean coffee culture.
I joined a bit later in the piece (2013) and have been involved in modernising our approach to sourcing and roasting.
What's your favourite part about working at the Roastery?
Working with many of the same coffee producers and suppliers each year and directly tasting the improved results of their hard work.

- Lisa-Laura Verhoest, 1st place UKBrC 2018 & competing at WBrC
- Finalist - European Speciality Roaster of the Year 2018.
