Ask the Roaster - Dean from Curious Roo
How was the Roastery founded, what was the inspiration?
Curious Roo was founded after Artisan and Artisan Coffee School realised the need for great coffee in West London. We wanted to have more control over the products use within the shops and school and decided to start a roastery to fit our needs as well as to start supplying coffee lovers across the UK.
What's your favourite part about working at the Roastery?
I love the complexity of coffee that is available on the market. Choosing a great coffee on the cupping table is one of the most exciting parts for me. As a roaster you have the task of developing each coffee to its maximum potential. The slightest adjustment can open a whole new world of flavours. I enjoy every aspect of the business from dealing with customers, giving advice on equipment to the production side of the roasting, it’s all a lot of fun and excitement.
What's your proudest accomplishment?
Winning the West London Business Awards – Food & Drink Business of the Year.
What three words best describe your Roastery?
Passion - Fun - Quality
What’s your favourite place to enjoy a coffee, and what coffee would that be?
Artisan – There is always a great vibe there and the staff are always super friendly. My go to coffee would be a flat white or one of their batch brews.
Finally, what Dog & Hat combination would you choose?
Mmmm I would say it would be a Cocker Spaniel in a baseball cap ;)
