How was the Roastery founded, what was the inspiration?

Kiss the Hippo is a speciality coffee brand devoted to creating the ultimate coffee experience.

We accomplish this through a considered approach to coffee making that places a strong appreciation for quality and sustainability at the forefront. We aim to offer the most refined freshly roasted coffees, served in beautiful spaces as part of a thoroughly memorable service experience.

What's your favourite part about working at the Roastery?

I have always loved profiling coffees. I am super data-driven and thoroughly enjoy tasting the coffees our Head of Coffee, Josh, sources and then replicating the experience in production and making fine-tune tweaks to achieve our desired final brew.

What's your proudest accomplishment?

Roasting coffee that reached the finals for UK Coffee in Good Spirits, UK Brewers Champs and UK Barista Champs with coffees from Al-Lahaba in Yemen and Mauricio Shattah in Colombia was a personal highlight of mine

What three words best describe your Roastery?
Organised - Noisy - Chaos... just like every roastery!
    What’s your favourite place to enjoy a coffee, and what coffee would that be?

    On my sofa with my Greyhound is my Saturday morning go-to. I usually brew a couple of oat flat whites featuring our juiciest natural.

    Finally, what Dog & Hat combination would you choose?

    Greyhound in a Beret.
