How was the Roastery founded, what was the inspiration?

The Roastery was opened as part of a growing family business. My parents (Jas and Simmi) had a couple of speciality coffee houses in Reading. I joined the business and wanted to expand it into something more. We took a collective decision to open a coffee Roastery and start roasting to supplement the coffee houses and provide Reading with a larger selection of speciality coffees.

What's your favourite part about working at the Roastery?

Creating new profiles for coffees, I love getting new coffee beans and finding the optimum profile that best extenuates the flavour of that origin.

What's your proudest accomplishment?

Starting my own coffee roasting business from scratch and getting our first wholesale sales. The feeling of knowing people were enjoying our coffees was great. I never thought I would end up doing what I’m doing.

What three words best describe your Roastery?

Wholesome - Ethical - Unique

What’s your favourite place to enjoy a coffee, and what coffee would that be?

At home with my partner, making us a v60 in the morning. Currently, I’m enjoying this beautiful Alcoholic lactic processed Colombian coffee. It’s a very unique taste something very different from regular speciality coffee. We only bought 35kg it has this light sherry taste, followed by intense tropical fruits and balanced clean acidity.

Finally, what Dog & Hat combination would you choose?

German Shepard with a bucket hat.
