How was the Roastery founded, what was the inspiration?
LOT61 got founded by two Aussies back in 2013. Born in Sydney, raised in Brooklyn, roasting in Amsterdam - our slogan - not only explains our journey but also highlights our passion for travelling and adventure. As coffee roasters nothing brings us more joy than firing up the roaster, opening the doors and serving our community.
What's your favourite part about working at the Roastery?
It's rewarding to witness the entire process from raw, un-roasted coffee to end product. All the steps in between happen within the walls of our roastery. One part in particular that I like a lot is logistics. As challenging as it sometimes is, we always find a way to get coffee delivered worldwide, whether it's to Nigeria, Kowloon, Hawaii or just right in our backyard here in Amsterdam.
What's your proudest accomplishment?
At the World of Coffee in Berlin our team won the SCA Best New Product award for our 'Moon Brew' product. That would be my proudest accomplishment.
What three words best describe your Roastery?
Crude - Apt - EfficientWhat’s your favourite place to enjoy a coffee, and what coffee would that be?
At home, alone, completely relaxed, when im repairing my synthesiser or something similar.
Finally, what Dog & Hat combination would you choose?
Bouvier and stone washed baseball hat.
