How was the Roastery founded, what was the inspiration?

Founded in 2008, Square Mile has expanded into a dynamic business synonymous with speciality coffee culture. Responsible sourcing and buying, combined with meticulous roasting sit at the heart of what we do. Inspired by the coming together and sense of community that coffee creates, we’re on a mission to continually shape and improve our practices while growing steadfast relationships throughout the speciality sector. Focused on wholesale, we supply speciality coffee to homes and cafes around the world.

What's your favourite part about working at the Roastery?

Outside of all of the delicious coffee, it’s great to be part of a collaborative team who are all so committed to creating a quality product. Seeing how much people care and respond to the coffee we roast is always inspiring. 

What's your proudest accomplishment?

Square Mile has won a few awards over the years, although none for me personally. However, I’d say I take more pride in being recognised by our customers and peers for our coffee being consistently delicious as this shows our customers can rely on.

What three words best describe your Roastery?

Quality - Consistent - Reliable  

What’s your favourite place to enjoy a coffee, and what coffee would that be?

Prufrock Coffee, they always have an interesting range of filter coffee on the bar. For me it would be a washed Ethiopian filter, the florals and fruit flavours never disappoint. 

Finally, what Dog & Hat combination would you choose?

I’d have to go for a Greyhound in an aviator hat, complete with goggles.
