How was the Roastery founded, what was the inspiration?
The Steamie started initially as a cafe in 2013 and we quickly realised that we wanted to ensure we were serving the best quality ethical coffees from around the world, and that the best way to guarantee this was to roast our own.
The Roastery was conceived in 2016 under a railway arch at SWG3 Glasgow.
What's your favourite part about working at the Roastery?
Having the opportunity to roast some of the finest speciality coffees from around the world. When a Kenyan AA arrives - from opening the sack, to profiling and through to cupping - soul lifting!
What's your proudest accomplishment?
We were recently invited to enter into the Falcon Speciality Roasters competition. We are also extremely proud to supply some of Glasgow’s finest restaurants.

What’s your favourite place to enjoy a coffee, and what coffee would that be?
Sitting in Spitfire coffee in the Merchant City having a long black.
