Welcome to December and of course, 'tis the season to be merry (and drink great coffee).

As has become a tradition here at Dog and Hat, this year's December Christmas edition of the subscription is again a showcase of all things Yorkshire.

This means that Dave gets the chance to drive a white van around the county visiting all our festive roasters and collecting the coffee... all while wearing his latest Christmas jumper (he really does get overly excited about at every opportunity he gets to drive a van, even more so at this time of the year).

Rounton Coffee (Rounton, North Yorkshire) - Guatemala Washed [SCA - 86.5]

Back in early November the three of us gathered around the cupping table at the Rounton Coffee roastery in the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside alongside Dave Burton blind tasting coffee for this Christmas slot.

We had a really interesting range of coffees to choose from and we struck upon this washed Guatemala from the San Carlos farm.  The reason we chose this coffee was that it had a lovely sweetness as well as a slightly spicy note to it that really reminded us of Christmas.

So here we are, all the subscribers of the 'main' subscription will be receiving this omni-roast coffee to enjoy, with it's notes of 'Figgy Pudding, Golden Raisin and Syrup'.

Foundry Coffee (Sheffield, South Yorkshire) - Ethiopia Natural  [SCA - 88.5]

The next headline coffee in the subscription this month is a coffee that has brought many people into the speciality coffee fold over the years... and that coffee is none other than the Ethiopia Rocko Mountain natural process Yirgacheffe roasted for us by Lee (and now Vilma as well) at Foundry Coffee Roasters in Sheffield.

As the years have rolled by, this coffee has toned down some of its craziness (much like ourselves) and has settled this year into a more rounded coffee with notes of Strawberry (albeit less pronounced than in previous years) and Chocolate Limes (a staple of Christmas in Dave's house growing up).

All our 'main' subscription subscribers will also be receiving this omni-roast coffee to enjoy over the festive period.

Taylors Discovery (Harrogate, North Yorkshire) - Mexico Natural [SCA - 86.5]

We are heading over to Harrogate, the food capital of Yorkshire for our Bag 3 coffee this Christmas, where we once again meet up with Nicola and the team at Taylors Discovery - a dedicated micro-roaster housed deep within he Taylors (and Yorkshire Tea) building.  This motley crew get hold of some of the finest coffees from around the world to work their magic on, and this one is no different.

We have a wonderful natural processed Mexico coffee with smooth notes of Watermelon and Cream - all our bag 3 members will be receiving this omni-roast coffee.

Chipp Coffee (Leeds, West Yorkshire) - Kenya Natural [SCA - 85]

Another roaster that we always have loads of time for is Zach Chipp at Chipp coffee in Leeds and we can't wait to take another trip over to his new roastery this year.

Zach has found a very unusual coffee for us this month, and we can't wait to share it with you.  It is the first natural processed Kenya coffee that we've included in the subscription (and only the 2nd one we've ever tried).  It has festive notes of Mulled Wine, Clementine..... and Fairy Lights (another reason why we love Zach so much).

Dialled In Traditional

Our traditional subscribers will be receiving a classic washed El Salvador coffee from Rounton Coffee with notes of Caramel, Milk Chocolate and Stewed Plums.

We are also featuring a timeless Brazil / Colombia blend from Taylors Discovery with notes of Caramel, Milk Chocolate and Stewed Plums.

Dialled In Decaf

Our decaf subscribers will be receiving a Rounton Coffee Peru washed and Sparkling Water decaffeinated coffee with notes of Dark Chocolate, Cherry and Brown Sugar.

Alongside that we are sending out coffee from one of the very best decaf coffee roasters in the country - Chipp Coffee. Zach is roasting us a Sugarcane Decaffeinated Colombia with notes of Cocoa, Honey and Sweet Fruits.
