Some month's go by and you get some fairly easy to understand tasting notes - Chocolate, Cherry, Red Berries, Caramel, maybe even Blueberry.  This month is not one of those months - so be prepared to open you taste buds to some new and exciting flavours including Rhubarb and Persimmon.

This month we welcome back some firm Dog and Hat member favourites - Craft House Coffee and Horsham Coffee Roasters, both from sunny Sussex, alongside Manumit from Cardiff.

Then, making their first appearance in the subs we have Caravan Coffee Roasters from London.

Remember, if there's a coffee that you aren't getting in your subscription but like the look of (or if you just want more of a coffee that you are getting), you can simply add them onto your subscription as an extra bag in the members area.

Craft House Coffee

It's been a while since we had Tom at Craft House Coffee in the subs, but we're glad to be showcasing more of his wonderful, crowd pleasing coffee.

This time around we have his washed Guatemala from the Huehuetenango region with notes of Orange, Plum and Caramel.

All our members will be receiving this omni-roast coffee, which works beautifully across espresso and filter brewing methods.

Caravan Coffee Roasters

Caravan Coffee Roasters have been on our radar for some time now, not least because we often find ourselves in their Granary Square coffee shop waiting for our delayed trains out of Kings Cross - and the team are providing two coffees for us this month.

First coffee up is a little bit different - it's a washed Kenya coffee that Caravan selected specifically with an espresso roast profile in mind.  Typically roasters tend to favour filter brewing methods for their Kenya roasts, so this one is certainly an espresso to be reckoned.  It comes packed full of Rhubarb, Lemon Sherbet, Spiced Apple notes and all our Espresso members will be receiving this coffee.

Next we have a natural process coffee from the Djimmah region of Ethiopia.  This coffee has a real floral quality with notes of Blood Orange and Persimmon.  All our Assorted and Filter members will be receiving this coffee.

Horsham Coffee Roasters

Horsham Coffee Roasters have certainly been busy since their last appearance in the subs.  They've changed their packaging to remove the foil lining (making them 100% recyclable... if your local authority allows), they are in full swing roasting on their new eco-friendly Loring coffee roaster and they've also become the first UK-based roaster to sign up for the Transparency Coffee pledge... taking their commitment to helping improve the lives of coffee farmers to the next level.

This time Bradley and the team are providing another of their wonderful, directly sourced relationship coffees for us.  This natural process Costa Rica micro-lot (grown on just a 1 hectare plot) comes from San Marcos in the Tarrazu region of Costa Rica.  This syrupy omni-roast coffee is packed full of Red Grape and Fig notes.

All our 3 and 4 bag members will be receiving this coffee.

Manumit

It's always a joy when we get to work with Esther and the amazing crew down at Manumit in Cardiff.

For those that haven't come across Manumit before, their mission is to make the world a better place by combating modern day slavery through:

  • Sourcing speciality coffee beans from ethical, slavery free suppliers
  • Training and employing survivors of modern slavery as coffee roasters.
  • Investing all profits in local and international anti-slavery projects.

We're very lucky to have convinced Esther to release some of her amazing limited edition, honey-processed Uganda from the Zukuka Bora cooperative for us.  This sweet coffee with notes of Stone Fruits, Brown sugar and Milk Chocolate will be going to all our 4 bag members.

Dialled In Dark(er)

First up for the Dark(er) sub this month is the Market Blend from Caravan.  This Rwanda-based blend comes with notes of Red Apple, Cooked Fruit and Baking Spice.

Next up we have Horsham's Nova Blend.  This blend of Brazil (70%) and Costa Rica (30%) is designed to to work with milk to really show off its notes of Dark Chocolate, Nuts and Caramel.

Dialled In Decaf

For our decaf subscribers we have an Ethiopia decaf from Craft House Coffee and a Colombia E.A. decaf from Horsham.
