May Subscription 2023 – Dog & Hat Coffee (dogandhat.co.uk)

Wildheart Tanzania Natural (Northern Ireland) (SCA 85)

Wildheart are always ready to support Dog and Hat, so much so that they sent us no less that three kilograms of samples this month :-) we know what the house coffee is going to be this month, haha.  Although some of that will go to our local village hall for their Coronation event. That said, I once sent a funky Kenya to them and got asked if the coffee had gone off!

The Mkulima Kwanza AMCOS is a co-op started in collaboration with Communal Shamba LTD, a social enterprise founded solely by young Tanzanians. The co-op have sought to differentiate by consolidating and streamlining the traditional value chain for smallholder coffee production, as well as through pioneering processing techniques to diversify their offering and open new markets.

This coffee has vibrant notes of Tropical Fruit Salad, is an Omni-Roast and will go to all our 'Main' subscription members this month.

Goldbox Peru Red Honey (Newcastle Upon Tyne) (SCA 85.75)

This Red Honey coffee from Peru is a delight from Goldbox with its notes of Raspberry, Blackberry and Chocolate are so lucky to have friends like Barbra at Goldbox who can find coffees of this quality for us.

Goldbox have Brewer’s Cup championship baristas and licensed Q-graders - with impeccable taste buds and over 20 years’ experience in the industry - they are undoubtedly one of the UK's finest specialty coffee roasters.

All our 'main' subscription members will be receiving this omni-roast coffee to enjoy.

Papercup El Salvador Anaerobic Natural (Glasgow) (SCA 85)

Huge thank you's go to the awesome team up at Papercup this month who have actually moved from a booking in the July to a last minute switch to May... as our planned May roaster has just had an accident and can't roast at the moment. As you read this, the coffee is moving from a warehouse to the roastery... we just hope it makes it in time. Fingers crossed! Thank you again Papercup for all your efforts (whilst also being on holiday in Majorca).

This coffee comes from Jose Enrique Gutierrez's Finca Las Llantas farm in the Apaneca-Ilamatepec region of El Salvador it has boozy notes of Apple Cider and Caramel.

Second-generation coffee producer, Jose Enrique Gutierrez is dedicated to producing high-quality coffees in a sustainable manner. Coffee is Jose's passion and, when he purchased his first farm in 2007, he did so with a speciality mindset.

All our Bag 3 and 4 members will be receiving this omni-roast coffee.

Big Dog Guatemala  Washed (Wales - Gwent) (SCA 83)

Dog and Hat have been trying to fit Big Dog in the subscription for a little while, and finally we have found a coffee. Well, we always try and fit any one with dog in the name into the subscription. Plus, they are from Wales, which if you dig deep into Su's family history, goes back to her roots.

Here they are with Guatemala Smallholders from the Cooperative Agricola Integral Peña Roja in the Huehuetenango region of Guatemala. This coffee has notes of Chocolate, Honeysuckle and Peach

All our Bag 4 members will be receiving this omni-roast coffee.

Dialled In Traditional

Traditional is coming from Gold Box with a Honduras and Papercup with a Brazil... but I am just re-organising which one as our originally planned roaster was going to provide this coffee, so it may change slightly.

Dialled In Decaf

The Decaffeinated this month is Gold Box Columbia E.A. Decaffeinated and Papercup's Columbia E.A. Decaffeinated.
