For September, our monthly donation went to Gables Dogs & Cats Home, a cause brought to us by our good friends at Sanctuary Coffee. Sanctuary works closely with a fantastic network of animal welfare causes, and after Rhian and Marcus from their team visited Gables in person, they knew it was a charity we needed to support. They were blown away by the incredible facilities and saw first-hand just how dedicated, attentive, and caring the staff and volunteers are to every single resident.

Because Gables receives no government funding, they rely entirely on the generosity of animal lovers to keep their doors open and their care going. We are so proud to support their vital work this month—and, as always, a huge thank you to you, our amazing customers, for making these donations possible with every bag of coffee you buy!

Our Story

Founded in 1907 and based in Plymouth, Gables is an independent rescue and rehoming centre that takes in up to 1,000 abandoned, unwanted, and vulnerable animals every year across Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, and the Isles of Scilly. From providing essential veterinary treatment and behavioural rehabilitation to giving each cat and dog a loving environment while they wait for their forever homes, their team works tirelessly to give these animals a second chance.

Our Facilities

Our dedicated staff and volunteers care for approximately 1000 cats and dogs every year. We are committed to providing the best environment possible for our animals with a superb 11 acre site.

We have 82 kennels and 81 cat pens in total, so we have a lot of animals to care for!

Each kennel block has an outdoor paddock with shelter and toys to play with.

They also have paddling pools in the paddocks so they can cool down in the summer! All the dogs get out of their kennels and spend some time in the paddocks as well as being walked around our lovely site.

The cattery has indoor pens with an outdoor run for every cat. In the winter the inside pen is heated to keep the cats warm and cosy.

We pride ourselves on the fact that we provide environment enrichment to all of our animals to make their stay with us a more bearable.
