Hey

I hope you are all well, this is the small coffee journal we used to do each month and have not done in a while, but this month I felt we had a lot of say about the people and the coffee and felt we missed this!

The full coffee edit can be seen here:

October Subscription 2024 – Dog & Hat Coffee (dogandhat.co.uk)

Salford Coffee – Uganda

Nik at Salford has been a long-standing friend of ours, but they have never been a headline in our subscription, however we finally found a roast profile and origin that worked for us. Salford are a mainstay in the area with the coffee being served at RHS Bridgewater other places. They have supplied us with a Punchy Uganda that bounces out of the bag with fruits.

Process Coffee – Rwanda

Process came to us by our good friend Marcus, he is also the UK representative for Manhattan. Marcus got in touch to see if we would consider Process as a roaster for the subscription. Ben from Process is new to the scene and his VHS look and feel is going down well. The roast is also well done, with the flavours well presented. I love the design diversity here. A while ago I said I wouldn’t have boxes in the sub, and I have tried to stick to those guns, but this is another roaster, not unlike Dark Arts that wanted their box in. I do not agree with boxes, but I do agree with the problem, how do you stand out!

Carve – Nicaragua

So I contacted Will at Carve to see what they had that could go into a subscription and they have come back with a Nicaragua bouncing with Chocolate Orange. A little wash through their website, and II can see they now have a beach café that is now open 7 days a week in Swanage. If you are passing though that’s the place to be!

Carve are also offering their Guatemala Decaffeinated and their Venture Blend for the Traditional Subscription

All Things Bloom

I got an email from Henry out of the blue about his new Social Impact Roastery All Things Bloom. Henry is formerly of Gentleman Barista and when he contacted us I commented the last time I spoke to you, you were running for hospital to have a baby...that was five years ago!

All Things Bloom intents to partner with communities, train baristas and support their sister social initiative Home Kitchen. Henry has supplied with a Gooseberry Tanzanian for the main sub, Colombia Decaffeinated and a Brazil and Guatemala Blend for the Traditional.

We wish Henry all the best with his new adventure!

Any questions let me know!
