Coffee Facts

This coffee comes from smallholder farmers who deliver their cherries to the Kilimbi washing station in Rwanda's Nyamasheke District, near Lake Kivu. Built in 2016, Kilimbi was the first washing station established by Muraho Trading Company, a family-run business dedicated to producing exceptional Rwandan coffee while supporting local farming communities. The station is known for its high-quality washed, honey, and natural coffees, with some cherries even arriving by boat across Lake Kivu.

For this honey-processed lot, freshly harvested cherries are sealed for 24 hours before pulping, then slowly dried on raised beds for around three weeks with regular turning to ensure even drying. The result is a complex, layered cup with bright flavours of orangeade, rhubarb, and delicate rooibos tea, balanced by the sweetness and depth of the honey process.
