This month, we have selected a charity that was brought forward to us by our dear friend Sadie, who is a trustee of Building Futures Ethiopia. Here are a few words taken from the website.

Sadie has worked in international value chains across the globe in her role as a green coffee buyer for more than a decade. She has extensive experience sourcing coffee from East Africa and has developed a love for the region during her travels. She joined BFE after seeing the challenges faced by rural families in providing their children with a consistent, high-quality education.

Building Futures Ethiopia is a small inspirational Yorkshire based charity that is building a 500 place primary school in northern Ethiopia.

Their mission is:

‘The prevention or relief of poverty in Ethiopia by providing and assisting in the provision of education, training and all necessary support designed to enable individuals to generate a sustainable level of income and be self-sufficient’

The final phase of the school is a science laboratory. In this rural farming community, pupils will learn about crop cultivation, including coffee, in addition to sustainable food production. Every cup of coffee is rooted in science, from growing and harvesting to roasting and brewing. Your donation supports both the children’s education and the future of sustainable agriculture in their community.

Let’s give those pupils a great start by donating to fund the resources for their new science laboratory! Together we’re brewing up something special for another wonderful cause.
