About
Well Grounded (Well Grounded Jobs C.I.C) is a social enterprise, founded in 2016 by award-winning social entrepreneur Eve Wagg. Born from a pilot project in East London, Well Grounded now runs 2 specialty coffee training academies (Tower Hamlets and King’s Cross), connecting people looking for work with sustainable careers in the coffee industry, regardless of their background.
Our vision is of a society where people are thriving socially and economically, in a diverse, dynamic and nurturing coffee community.
Our mission is to support the UK’s unemployed with the skills, qualifications, practical support and job opportunities to secure and maintain successful careers. In turn, we provide the coffee industry with skilled, passionate and committed employees. We support individuals aged 16-60 not in education, employment or training, with a focus on those facing multiple barriers to work. In the 6 years that we have been around, we have provided training opportunities for over 500 people, with over 270 individuals going into positive work, education or further training outcomes. Our beneficiaries include the long-term unemployed, refugees and asylum seekers, people with mental health challenges, the homeless and young NEETs (not in education, employment or training). By developing a diverse, experienced talent pipeline for all aspects of the specialty coffee industry, Well Grounded links those in need with emerging jobs. Our wrap around mental health and financial management support ensures our Graduates are supported to thrive in work and life.
Collaboration with Notes:
The Impact Coffee is a collaboration between Notes and the award-winning social enterprise Well Grounded. Since 2016, Notes has been a valued partner of Well Grounded, helping to support local people into work through work experience opportunities at Notes sites, integrating into training programmes with roastery visits and mentoring Well Grounded Graduates, some of whom have gone on to open their very own coffee shops.
"Well Grounded offers an exceptional standard of training, including both the technical side of the speciality coffee industry and the so-called soft skills central to service, which we as employers so often take for granted. Their graduates benefit from access to a growing and rewarding sector of the hospitality trade, and we benefit from new and energetic talent."
Robert Robinson, Co-Founder at Notes
Profits from every 250g bag of coffee sold will be donated to Well Grounded and directly help their mission - to empower adults with the skills and training they need to become successful in the specialty coffee industry.
Thank you for transforming lives through coffee,
The Notes & Well Grounded Team
